The Beginning: May 27, 2020
This was the day we picked Theo up from Joliet Animal Control. He had reportedly been found in a Walmart parking lot and brought to Animal Control. We later found that his owner actually brought him in. He didn't have a name, had very large masses on his testicles, tail and oozing sores on his paws. He looked sad, defeated and honestly, we were astounded by his medical condition.

After a visit to the Oncologist and hearing the extent of Theo's medical condition (advanced testicular cancer, metastasis to the Prostate along with nodules throughout his abdomen). Theo didn't seem to know he was sick and he was finding joy and happiness in the simplest things. We decided to make up for whatever he had missed in his previous life and pursue 'bucket list adventures'

It started off as a post on Facebook looking for suggestions for Theo's Bucket List. A short list was developed and we kicked it off with #1: Eat Ice Cream. After picking up Theo from Animal Control he was in desperate need of a bath. We took him to Pet Supplies Plus for the bath and to get a collar and ID tag (we knew he was here to stay). He also picked out a blue octopus toy. Octopus was so well loved, we put out a plea for a spare when we couldn't locate any others. Live Like Roo Foundati

Theo's story became that of a dog who moved people to acts of kindness, compassion, generosity and the willingness to open their hearts even though it was going to hurt in the end. Through his bucket list adventures, people celebrated his pure joy in simple things like ice cream, puppies and ear rubs and found ways to be part of future adventures.
